Occasionally you will find that your iPad cannot connect to the internet or receive email. Normally the iPad will connect automatically as it remembers the Wi-Fi name and connection details of all networks that you have previously joined.
Here are some simple things you can do to try and fix this yourself:
If you are at home, then your internet usually comes into your house via a router. This is a small box which connects to your phone socket and provides you with a connection to the internet.
Your router will look something like the picture below. The router usually provides a Wi-Fi (wireless) connection.

Make sure your router is switched on and that you're within range. The range will only be the same room as the router, or one or two rooms away. If you are too far away you won't get a signal, so make sure you're within range.
You should see a number of status lights on the router. Usually at least three. The picture above shows, from left to right: a power on light, a broadband connected light and finally a Wi-Fi status light. On a BT router they should all be the same colour; in this case blue.
If you don’t see a tick next to a network name, or the toggle switch is over to the left, it means you have no connection.
Follow these steps to reconnect:
If you still can’t connect, then the problem will probably be that you typed the password incorrectly or that you are trying to connect to the wrong Wi-Fi network. To check that you have now connected succesfully, try opening a Google page in Safari.
Open the Safari web browser application by turning on the iPad and displaying the Home screen and touching on the icon with the compass needle. If you cannot see the Home screen and its icons you will need to press the Home Button which is at the bottom of the iPad in the middle.
The Safari application is usually on the first screen of the iPad. If you cannot see it, then swipe from right to left to check the other pages.
Once you have launched Safari tap on the search bar at the top of the screen. A keyboard will pop up. Now type “www.google.co.uk’ and press the blue Go button on the right-hand side of the pop-up keyboard.
If you are now connected to the internet, you will see the familiar Google search page.
