VOLUNTEERS – We Need You!
We simply could not do what we do without our amazing volunteers….their time, energy, and enthusiasm are at the heart of everything we achieve, and without them, we would be unable to support the people who rely on our charity.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for more volunteers to join us across a range of roles from befriending and shopping, to driving and supporting our group activities. Whatever time you can offer, it truly makes a difference.
If you have friends, family, or colleagues who might be interested, please do share this message with them.
Volunteering really is a win–win: not only do you help others, but you gain a sense of purpose, connection, and the simple joy of making someone’s day a little brighter.
Thank you in advance for your support 🙂
Being a volunteer for Totnes Caring is a tremendously rewarding experience and the volunteer roles we have are multiple and varied. Befriending:
A very uplifting and rewarding role, through speaking with Vanessa a member of the TC team you will be carefully matched with a client who you will see up to six times. The aim is to help them build confidence and independence, and to signpost activities and the help that is available should they need it. You are there to accompany clients when appropriate as they move forwards, and most importantly you are there to listen.
In the words of one of our befriender’s:
“In reality it is a mutually beneficial relationship. My clients have been a joy to work with. Although coping with different life events and having to rebuild and restructure a new way forward , their resilience, good humour and warmth is infectious. I feel privileged to be part of that process.”
Volunteer Drivers:

The overall purpose of Totnes Caring to support people to live as independently as possible by combatting loneliness and isolation and maintaining their health and wellbeing. The role of our volunteer drivers is to assist people to attend health appointment and our activities within the community.
