Carers Groups

Carers Group

Carers of people living with dementia meet monthly over lunch in a safe, friendly environment to share experiences and anxieties, provide support to each other, share information, make new friends, and relax.  Carers say they learn from each other, understand better how dementia progresses and feel more confident in facing decisions required in the short term and which are likely to arise in the future.  Carers may be partners, children or siblings.

Carers meet on the last Wednesday of each month 12.15 to 1.45pm, please arrive at 12 pm for a prompt start.

If you wish you can bring the person you care for who will have lunch in a nearby space with some of our experienced volunteers.

Carer: ”I realised I was not alone, that there were others in similar situations as me.”

Living With Loss

It can be challenging to adapt to a new life when someone loses the person they have been caring for because they have moved to residential care. We would therefore urge you to join us for this group which meets in a relaxed environment over lunch and provides an opportunity to talk and share with others in a similar situation.

Meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month from 12.15pm – 1.45pm, please arrive at 12 pm for a prompt start.

Bereavement Support Group (formerly Loss and Light)

Have you recently lost someone with dementia whom you cared for?

This group is an opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation, and enable you to chat and share your experiences. The meetings are in a safe relaxed environment and allow everyone the chance to have lunch and discover that you are not alone.

Meetings are on the third Thursday of every month from 12.15pm -1.45pm, please arrive at 12 pm for a prompt start.
